How Early Financial Literacy Shapes Black Children's Economic Future
America loves to pretend that the racial wealth gap appears out of thin air in adulthood, as if Black people simply “made bad choices,” “didn’t save enough,” or “didn’t work hard enough.” But the wealth gap is not an adult problem. It is a childhood problem. It’s baked into early education, family exposure, and the economic norms kids grow up around. By the time a Black child turns 18, the economic playing field has already been tilted for over a decade.
